Mysterious Stranger Drops Off Suli the Baby Stuffed Seal Part 2
From Part 1:
“WHAT?!?” Jane and I exclaimed in unison.
“Well guys, it’s kind of a long story…”
—————–
“That’s okay, Suli. Tell us anyway!” Jane said.
Suli’s whiskers drooped a little. “Okay, Jane. Here goes:
“I never knew my Mommy. The first thing I remember of my early childhood was living in an old Maytag washing machine in a dump near the coast of Alaska. There were a few other stuffed seals living there because the fishing was good, but none of them knew where I came from. ‘You just showed up one day, like a little Angel,’ they told me.
“I learned how to hunt fish from the other seals there, but I always wanted to meet my family and ask them how I came to be living in this dump. I was too young to go searching for them myself, but I vowed to find them when I grew up. I thought I would have to wait years to find them, but one day a Mysterious Stranger showed up, wearing a black cloak and mask. He peered down into the washing machine where I was sleeping and said, ‘Do you want a better life, Suli?’ I just stared at him with big eyes and nodded. Without another word, he gently picked me up, and pulled out a big tubelike device with a ball on the end, kinda like what you guys have here at the Stuffed Zoo.”
“Wait, he had a Stuffocator?” I said.
“But Finn’s only made four of them, EVER!” exclaimed Jane.
“But like I was saying,” Suli continued, “there was a flash of bright light, and the next thing I knew, I was in the Real World at the warehouse door of the Stuffed Zoo, and you picked up my basket, Laurie!”
Both Jane and I were seriously perplexed by Suli’s story, and we wondered how there could be a rogue acquisitioner out there, and what motivation could he have for bringing stuffed animals to us?
The next morning, when Jane and I arrived at the Stuffed Zoo, Suli greeted us at the door with a letter clenched tightly in her mouth. “Weef goh a etter!” she said, in a slightly muffled voice. The letter was contained in a fancy envelope decorated with an interlocking pattern of gold and blue roses.
“Okay Suli, let me see it,” Jane said. Suli let go of the letter, and Jane opened it, reading aloud its contents:
Dearest Stuffed Zoo,
I shall not disclose to you my identity, but let it be known that I am a friend. Regarding our friend Suli, I can assure you that her parents are alive and well. I am with them now in the Stuffed Animal World, where they are King and Queen of a small Stuffed Seal Nation. Many years ago, a huge blizzard suddenly struck their land and Suli, who was out fishing with her aunt, was swept off of an ice cliff and into the sea. Her parents organized a search party, but Suli was nowhere to be found.
If Suli would like to return to see her parents, I would be happy to take her there. Simply leave Suli outside in a basket, and at midnight I shall come to take her back to her family.
Yours Truly,

When Jane stopped reading, Suli didn’t know what to say. “Well isn’t that something, Suli!” Jane said. When Suli didn’t answer, Jane reconsidered. “Oh, silly me. Poor thing, you’re probably all upset! Well, you don’t have to decide now. Let’s get you some hot chocolate.”
“Thank you,” Suli said finally. Later, Suli decided that she wanted to visit her family, but that she wants to stay at the StuffedZoo until someone chooses her, because she doesn’t really want the responsibility of being a princess, and she’d rather live in a warm home with a loving human family than in the cold arctic of the Stuffed Animal World.
As for the mysterious stranger, we still don’t know who he is.
