Jane Finds Eager Ernest the Stuffed Reindeer Part 2

Posted October 3rd, 2008 by Acquisitioner

(buy Eager Ernest here)  From Part 1: Ernest is unliked by the other Stuffed Reindeer, and leaves his post guarding the North Pole for just a moment in the hope that Santa will invite him in for dinner anyway.

Call me if you need anything, Ernest.”

I will Santa,” said Ernest. Dejectedly, Ernest started to drag himself back to the North Pole, but when he gazed off into the distance, he couldn’t find it! Ernest was in a panic. He galloped around and around the area, looking for it, but he couldn’t find it.

That was when I showed up. I knew that Christmas was coming soon, so I used the Stuffocator to travel to the North Pole in search of some stuffed animal reindeer or polar bears. When I arrived at the North Pole, I noticed that it was gone, and in its place a frantic stuffed reindeer was running around and around looking for it.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“It’s gone! It’s gone!!! IT’S GONE!!!!!” he yelled. “What am I going to tell Santa?”

“Calm down,” I said. “I’ll help you find it.” I opened the Voice Radar Object Locator panel on the Stuffocator. “Describe the North Pole” I told him.

“It’s Red and White, and big and striped. And there’s a golden globe on the top.” Ernest looked perplexed. “And I don’t know why anyone would steal it!” The Stuffocator began to make strange whirring noises, and the bulb on the end lit up so brightly that Ernest and I had to cover our eyes.

When we opened them again, there was the North Pole, and clinging onto it was Prancer the Reindeer!

“So you’re the culprit!” Ernest said, and then turned to me. “Thank you so much. I’m Ernest, what’s your name?”

“I’m Jane from the StuffedZoo,” I said, “We give stuffed animals the chance to live in the Real World and get lots of hugs and kisses from loving humans.”

“Well, I’m tired of living here where none of the reindeer like me. Maybe things would be better in the Real World.”

We left Prancer lying in the snow by the North Pole to contemplate his crimes, but not before notifying Santa! He invited both Ernest and I in to his house for a huge dinner of stuffed peppers, stuffed mushrooms, steaming platters of stuffed turducken. When we had all begun to tuck in, Santa exclaimed, ”I can’t believe that Prancer would do such a thing! Why did he do it, Ernest?”

Ernest thought long and hard before saying, “Well, Mr. Claus, I was going to say that he’s a bad reindeer, but that’s not true. He’s a good reindeer who was jealous of the responsibility I had of guarding the North Pole. I never realized how big a responsibility that actually is.”

”Oh ho ho ho! That’s true, Ernest! But how would you like to help pull my sleigh this Christmas, instead? Take a break from the responsibility!”

Ernest looked at Santa, then looked at me. I shrugged to tell him that it was his choice. Then Ernest said the nicest thing: “I’ll have to say thanks, but no thanks, Santa. I think that you should let Prancer watch the North Pole this year, and ask Rudolph to guide your sleigh. Personally, I want to go with Jane to the Stuffed Zoo and bring joy to children everywhere!” Santa was disappointed at Ernest’s choice, but agreed it was for the best.

When we finished the meal, it was time to say goodbye. The bright round ball at the end of the stuffocator glowed again, and WHOOSH! Eager Ernest and I were in the Stuffed Zoo warehouse before we knew it, and Laurie greeted Ernest with a smile. “Welcome to the Stuffed Zoo,” she said.
