Owl Eats Harry Potter - V:Mission 2 Episode 8

Posted May 15th, 2008 by V

Dinu and I waste no time getting to his car.  Once Dinu is behind the wheel and the car is moving he starts laughing like an enormous bear.  He says,  “That was a good trick you pulled back there.  I hope you’ll teach it to me sometime.”

“I wish I could; but, I’m not sure I understand it myself.  The stuffocator did something I’ve never seen before.” I reply in confusion.

We had barely gone a few blocks when Dinu pulls into a garage and parks the car.  “We better take the bus to the countryside.” he says.  “I don’t think they know this car yet but I don’t want to take a chance.

By the way, what’s a stuffocator?”

“It’s what this whole gig is about.  Didn’t Finn tell you about it?” I ask.

“No, no, no!” Dinu says, laughing between each no.  “He just tells me a friend is coming who wants to go to the old barn.”

It was amazing to me that someone who had just been through the wringer could be so gregarious.  You can’t not like Dinu.  He radiates friendliness and fun.  I find myself smiling as we are running from the Romanian Secret Police.

“A stuffocator is a device that Finn designed and built.  I’m an Aquisitioner for Finn’s business, the StuffedZoo.  The stuffocator captures the essence of a wild animal and transmogrifies it into a stuffed animal equivalent.”  I explain.

The look on Dinu’s face makes it clear he doesn’t believe me…especially after watching the stuffocator “neutralize” the guard.

We walk out of the garage and head through a mostly deserted street.  Hints of sun poke from between buildings.  We cross an open field and head to a street lamp that pools light in an otherwise empty world.

“The bus should come in about 20 minutes.  We can  take it to the edge of town.  I’ve got a friend  near the last stop that has a truck.  We’ll try to borrow it.  He owes me a favor after the mess he made at my last spaghetti party.”  Dinu says and laughs his deep laugh.
