Owl Eats Harry Potter - V:Mission 2 Episode 7
The first lump looks at me in total confusion. Without so much as lifting a finger I seem to have rendered the threatening guard unconscious.
The next thing we hear is Zoe’s voice saying, “Is everyone okay? I saw that someone else had their hands in the grip so I pressed the “Neutralize” button. I hope that was okay? I don’t really know what it does.” her perpetual pleasantness laced with concern.
Dinu and I both explode in laughter. After a minute I finally manage to let Zoe know, “You might have just saved our lives! I owe you big-time when I get back. What can I bring you from Europe?”
Zoe seems confused and tentatively replies, “Are you two okay?”
That seems to bring Dinu back to his senses. “We better get out of here before the guard wakes up or the next shift comes. We can talk later.” anxious fear dominates his voice.
Quickly I say goodbye to Zoe, cram the stuffocator and the Harry Potter book into my duffle bag and zip it closed.
Dinu is on his feet now and I realize he is also a very large man. He whispers, “We need to get to my car. It’s a couple of blocks away. Then we should be okay for a while.”
“When I came in here there was an old woman at the Information counter. She got the guard for me. She seemed to watch me very closely.”
Dinu mutters something under his breath and says, “Secret Police. She’s the eyes,” and pointing at the guard, “he’s the muscle…strong but not so smart. We need to distract her.”
I have an idea…without thinking I open the door and put on my friendliest smile, waving for her to come over to the room.
She seems only too happy to find out what’s happening…as I suspected. The minute she reaches the door-frame I help her quickly in and shut the door.
It’s her turn to be afraid. She sees the guard on the floor and Dinu standing. I don’t know what happened earlier but it’s clear she is less than comfortable with the situation.
“What happened to the guard?” she asks, also in perfect English. Clearly the early encounter was a well rehearsed ruse.
“He started to not feel well.” I say. “Do you mind staying here to take care of him?” The meaning was clear.
She nodded.
Dinu and I leave instantly, pushing a heavy rack of Romanian travel literature in front of the door.
